BRIGHTEN UP MY LIFE – (S.WALL/J.WALL) Why do some people always complain? They moan when it's hot, they moan when it rains “Happiness depends upon yourself ” As Aristotle would tell I’m so disappointed in most of my friends They’re talking about houses and gross dividends What ever happened to shakin’ your ass And a roll in the grass CHORUS BRIGHTEN UP MY LIFE SET MY WORLD ALIGHT BRIGHTEN UP MY LIFE Drink to the future and swear on your heart Kick off your high heels and join in the march Up on your bike, you’re so debonair How does your vanity fare? CHORUS BRIGHTEN UP MY LIFE SET MY WORLD ALIGHT BRIGHTEN UP MY LIFE Up on your bike, you’re so debonair How does your vanity fare? CHORUS BRIGHTEN UP MY LIFE SET MY WORLD ALIGHT LETS PAINT THIS TOWN TONIGHT BRIGHTEN UP MY LIFE

HEADS ARE GONNA ROLL (S. Wall) When I was younger my heart had a hunger for feelings of every kind But down through the years I shed hardly a tear Was it just that I hadn’t the time? A world full of sorrow holds pain for tomorrow The future don’t look very bright Down through the ages we’re tearing the pages While there’s more of the book still to write chorus All these years I never asked why All the tears I never could cry You don’t miss the water till the well runs dry And you’ve nothing left to show So heads are gonna roll Trumpet I met an old woman she knew I was coming By the leaves in her teacup that night I took pains to explain what I found on my way And the things that I left way behind A world full of sorrow holds pain for tomorrow The future don’t look very bright Down through the ages we’re tearing the pages While there’s more of the book still to write chorus All these years I never asked why All the tears I never could cry You don’t miss the water till the well runs dry And you’ve nothing left to show So heads are gonna roll Trumpet Guitar solo All these years I never asked why All the tears I never could cry You don’t miss the water till the well runs dry And you’ve nothing left to show You’ve got nothing left to show So heads are gonna roll Trumpet You don’t miss the water till the well runs dry (x 2) Yeah, yeah. yeah…..etc

Always You 03:06
‘Always You’ - The Stunning I was standing still in a darkened room And no one could see as I looked down on the street My breath it fogs up the windowpane And I peel the paint as I wait…and I wait….for you. Yes it’s you, always you. If you fall, I’ll be the one, you’ll fall into You’re on my mind both night and day And you made me crash You’re the itch that I can’t scratch Last night I had the strangest dream I was lost at sea, now I wish that I could be With you, just you, always you If you fall, I’ll be the one, you’ll fall into Yeah you, just you, always you. When you fall, I’ll be the one, you’ll fall into You’re on my mind both night and day And you made me crash You’re the itch that I can’t scratch It’s you, just you, always you. If you fall, I’ll be the one, you’ll fall into Yeah you, it’s just you, always you. When you fall, I’ll be the one, you’ll fall into

SHE’S NOT THERE – THE STUNNING She said something about a sunrise Open up the curtain take a look Out the door we’re shambling down the roadside Down to the lake where nature’s waking up I didn’t think that we’d be talking all night Drinking from the neck does you in The beauty of the dawn makes me uptight ‘cos I haven’t seen it since I don’t know when Haven’t seen it since I don’t know when She moves through the morning She moves through the air I can feel her head on my shoulder I turn around and she’s not there I turn around and she’s not there See the way she moves around the graveyard Stepping through the tombstones with respect Calling out the rhymes of the ones who died before their time Michael - TB - aged eight. She never seems to look any older Eyes that shine crystalline and bright And when she puts her head upon my shoulder I feel as bold as Lancelot the Knight I feel as bold as Lancelot the Knight She moves through the morning She moves through the air I can feel her head on my shoulder I turn around and she’s not there I turn around and she’s not there

RUSTY OLD RIVER (S.Wall) INTRO + VERSE: G – A7 – C RUSTY OLD RIVER, RUSTY OLD BOAT THIS RUSTY OLD LOVE WON'T KEEP US AFLOAT RUSTY CHAINS, WON'T TAKE THE STRAIN BUT THEY'VE GOT ME BY THE THROAT (C) (C/B) - descend down on C chord (Am) I'M GONNA PUT MY CARDS ON THE TABLE ONE-EYED JACKS ARE WILD I'M GONNA TAKE YOU IN MY ARMS AND SQUEEZE YOU TIGHT TO SEE YOU EYE TO EYE TAKE IT SMOOTH, TAKE IT ROUGH, I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS LUKEWARM STUFF I WANT TO SEE THE TEARS RUNNING DOWN YOUR FACE I WANT TO SEE YOU CRY WHEN I SAY - GOODBYE RUSTY OLD RIVER, RUSTY OLD BOAT IT'S SO SAD JUST TO LOOK AT YOU BOTH I REMEMBER THE DAY WE MET THE RAIN CAME DOWN, OUR HAIR WAS WET AND YOUR HANDS THEY FELT SO COLD CHORUS
9.
Carrying the Fire (Words, Music: Joe Wall) They were wandering the roads with nowhere to hide carrying the fire, carrying the fire skin and bones and barely alive, carrying the fire Crushed down driven to hell carrying the fire, carrying the fire By the brute force of Oliver Cromwell carrying the fire, carrying the fire There were lost half a million lives Those that lived made sure the tale survived On hundreds of ships crossing the seven seas To Botany Bay, New York and Mississippi, through the cracks in godless concrete streets life bloomed like some rebel weed Escape from the city to the country On a freight ship he came from the east carrying the fire, carrying the fire In a hotel she cooks and cleans carrying the fire, carrying the fire He said I don’t know a soul in this strange place She said come on upstairs, come on inside We’re gonna keep warm We’re gonna survive Carrying the fire.

A Delicate Web (S.Wall) Lady in my every dream so lovely If you could only be beneath or above me Upstairs or downstairs, I’m gonna find your door You cast such a binding spell I’m forever Trapped in a delicate web, I surrender If I have to take a poison, it might as well be yours I’m thinking of your smiling face I’m thinking of your sweet taste I’m thinking of what I’m gonna say to you Walking down the boulevard beside you I can see the light of the sun inside you It shines on the angels, shines on the ones who know I pick up the telephone start dialing It rings but there’s no one home, keep trying I wanna hear your voice, I wanna hear you say my name I’m thinking of your smiling face I’m thinking of your sweet taste I’m thinking of what I’m gonna say to you

about

Another Number One album! Re-recorded, refreshed, and rocking - ‘TWICE AROUND THE WORLD’ is a brand new recording of the best of their long unavailable, number one, hit album ‘Once Around the World’. With extra tracks, including the single ‘Always You’ and the radio hit ‘Brighten up my Life’ - this record captures The Stunning at their very best. It brings these songs right back from 1992 into the present day and they sound just the way the band always envisaged they should: capturing the spirit and energy of the band’s live performances. Released on March 16th 2018, it hit the number one spot in the Irish independent charts.
